We are a non-profit, Christian speech and debate club serving 12-18 year old homeschooled students in junior high and high school. Although most families live in New Braunfels, we also have families traveling in from surrounding areas such as Seguin, Canyon Lake, Schertz, Cibolo, Selma, Garden Ridge, and San Antonio. Some drive in from as far as Corpus Christi and Houston and others have commuted in from Boerne, Comfort, Driftwood, Dripping Springs, and Kyle.
ACTION Speech and Debate Club is formed for the specific purpose of maintaining, developing, and promoting the mission of Stoa USA, which is to train youth in speech and debate to advance a Biblical worldview.
We believe that formal speech and debate provides an excellent means for home-schooled students to learn and exercise analytical and oratorical skills; but additionally, ACTION strives to address life issues from a biblical worldview and in a manner that glorifies God.
OUR TEACHING MODEL
Most of our classes are taught by experienced teens.
We are parent-run, student-led, and FAMILY friendly – all members of a family are encouraged to join in the learning and actively participate.
Our parent volunteers are unpaid.
Our focus is on growth, which is why we compete. Like athletic arenas, competition is an exceptionally effective tool for goal setting and sharpening character, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Since our founding in 2005, we have consistently qualified students to nationals resulting in numerous national rankings.
